Seven Lights Press; 1ST edition (January 14, 2014)
$19.95; 382 pages; ISBN 978-0989920063

Review by Gil Garver

The Astrology Code is an exhaustive study of planetary influences in a person's natal chart. This book is indeed a detached follow up to the seminal Gauquelin studies and as such deserves to be on the shelf of every student of the art. Note: This book is intended for serious scholars of the art of astrology. No amount of research will convince the academic community that astrology does lend itself to a serious statistical analysis and is a viable phenomena.

Celestial Configurations of Africa and the Caribbean

Kevin D. Raphael Fitch Astrology of AfricaCelestial Configurations of Africa and the Caribbean
by Kevin D. Raphael Fitch
Spirit of Brotherhood Publications, $27.38; 626 pages; ISBN 978-0983096207

Review by John Townley

Mundane astrology is a difficult branch of the starry art, not because of any innate problems in analyzing the charts of nations as opposed to individuals, but for lack of easily-available and authoritative charts of the countries themselves. That’s understandably difficult for older nation-states like those in Europe or even America itself, as exact times and sometimes even the dates themselves that saw their precise beginnings can be unknown or in dispute in various historical records. In more modern times, when records and timekeeping are fuller and more exact, that shouldn’t be so much of a problem – and yet it is, usually because the simple records for each small nation aren’t always conveniently to be found in a readily accessible place, in a book or on the Net.

Using Astrology to Create a Vocational Profile

Using Astrology to Create a Vocational Profile Using Astrology to Create a Vocational Profile
by Faye Cossar
Flare Publications

Reviewed by Mary Plumb, appearing in the Oct/Nov 2012 issue of The Mountain Astrologer magazine.

As I was reading Using Astrology to Create a Vocational Profile, recognizing how practical and thorough it is, I thought that it could be used by astrologers to develop a specialty in career counseling. At the end, in the author’s biographical notes, I found out that Faye Cossar does indeed offer an online apprenticeship using this book as the basis. The material is also the foundation of training courses she offers through the Amsterdam School of Astrology and the London School of Astrology.

Faye Cossar has worked with career counselors outside of astrology and has integrated tools and processes from those fields into her work. One of the essential reference points in her work is to engage the client in the process. Although she includes what the astrologer can realistically cover in matters of career and vocation if the client is only coming for one session, her forte is an ongoing (and clearly structured and organized) process that actively involves the client (e.g., in writing assignments, “to help them create their own matrix”); this results in their Vocational Profile, something that can be referred to throughout life.

Saturn in Transit

Saturn in TransitSaturn in Transit: Boundaries of Mind, Body, and Soul
Erin Sullivan.
Red Wheel/Weiser; 2nd edition (October 1, 2000)
$21.95 paper (337p) ISBN 1578631815

Erin Sullivan gives a thorough account of the astrology, mythology and psychology of Saturn's role as the source of divine discontent and longing for the ideal, out of which is born our greatest work. She draws on her Classical Myth background, the work of CJ Jung, and Joseph Campbell's monomyth and reveals Saturn's useful and developmental influence in our lives. Saturn assists the modern hero and heroine, during its transit around the zodiac, by destroying the old and outmoded within, and throwing us periodically into chaos, which invariably generates a creative transformation of purpose in our lives. Sullivan's contribution is an elegant guide to working with Saturn energy in your life.

Elizabeth Spring Saturn ReturnsSaturn Returns: The Private Papers of A Reluctant Astrologer
Elizabeth Spring
$21.95 ISBN 978-1461093619

"Elizabeth has done it again. "Saturn Returns" is something I've been awaiting for a long time -- an intelligent, first-person, integrative recounting of "how to be human," interpreted in astrological terms. Her journey as an honest, transparent, self-examining woman is in first place here, but she uses the lens of astrology to sharpen her vision, correct her blind spots, and provide an evolutionary, meaningful, spiritual framework for her personal story. This is just what modern astrology needs -- the missing link between theory and life." - Steven Forrest

Uranus: The Constant of Change

Uranus by Eric MeyersUranus: The Constant of Change
by Eric Meyers, M.A.
2008: Astrology Sight Publishing
www.AstrologySight.com

Uranus: The Constant of Change is an astrology book written for a general audience. It addresses the revolutionary planet at personal, social and transpersonal levels. Included are sections on Uranus in aspect to planets and in signs, Uranian individuals, Uranian events and cycles with the other planets. There is extended discussion about current Uranian activity: The Uranus/Saturn opposition and the applying Uranus/Pluto square. The transpersonal chapters address the spiritual implications of Uranus like no other astrology book has done. Seen as the metaphysical structure that envelops us and the "intelligence of nature," the Uranian matrix is the behind-the-scenes coordinator of our spiritual growth. How we align with the matrix, develop non-attachment, partner with reality (Saturn), and much more is thoroughly discussed. This book offers an authentic, non-denominational spiritual understanding of the universe and our place in it.

"Eric Meyers presents a complete mandala of the astrological Uranus: a tool for inner exploration, a guide for predictive trends, or a starting point in historical research. The breadth of scope, and depth of understanding, leads to one of the most comprehensive works devoted to any one astrological symbol. This book provides a wealth of material and insight." --Bill Streett, from the Foreward
